Well Control Training
Course Overview
The Well Control Equipment Course has been specially developed for drilling personnel wishing to improve overall skills in well control on surface drilling rigs. The Blowout Preventer is a critical piece of safety equipment. It is made up of integrated and interdependent systems and components, designed to cope with extreme pressures to prevent catastrophic blowouts from occurring during drilling. When a BOP component does fail, it is challenging to objectively assess the risk and determine whether to continue with drilling operations. This course is intended for personnel involved in drilling operations and working with well control equipment on surface rigs who want to improve their knowledge of well control and drilling related equipment.
Course Objective
Upon completion of this 4-day program, attendees are able to: Describe and explain the main components of well control equipment, including: Ram-type BOPs Annular-type BOPs BOP-installed gate valves Hydraulic control systems Choke and kill manifold BOP HPU Conventional BOP control systems Diverter systems Well control equipment mathematics - the implications of standards from API, ASME, etc. for maintenance, inspection, function and pressure testing of well control equipment
Who Should Attend
- This course is intended for personnel involved in drilling operations and working with well control equipment on land rigs, platform rigs and jack-up rigs who want to improve their knowledge. It is recommended in particular to: Drilling Supervisors Drilling Engineers Drilling Managers Assistant drillers Assistant mechanic Toolpushers Maintenance Supervisors
